FAQs

We get asked a lot of questions, here are some we get a lot!

How long do your shows last?
This varies from venue to venue but will always be advertised.  The average is 2 hours including breaks  so audience members can use the facilities however some shows may be longer, some may be shorter.  If you're unsure, fire us a message and we will make sure you have all the information you need.

What kind of acts can I expect to see?
This will vary from show to show.  For example, the needs of an audience for a cricket club in Cambridge would be different needs to that of a student night in Norwich.  We pride ourselves on tailoring each show to provide the most entertaining lineup possible.

Are your shows accessible?
We will make every effort to ensure our shows are fully accessible for audience and acts alike.  No-one should be excluded from laughing! However, from time to time, we work with a venue where accessibility just is not possible. In these situations, we will make as many accommodations as we physically can.

Are there age restrictions?
We bring shows to existing venues and each venue has their own rules. To find this out, you're best contacting the venue where the event is happening.

We work with acts of all types, some family friendly ,some not so much. What we will never tolerate is bullying or discrimination in any form and any act found to deliver material in this way will be blacklisted.

What equipment do I need?
All you need is a performance space and something to serve the punters.  We have our own PA, our own light rig, all completely PAT tested.  That being said, if you'd rather use your own sound system, this is something we can work with.  Send us an email to discuss!

Are you Co-vid 19 compliant?
Whilst restrictions are being eased in the UK, we are still very much aware of the devastating effect the pandemic is having.  We have a safeguarding COVID policy for acts whereby the MC will use a single mic all evening, and acts will use a microphone that is fully sanitised in-between acts. This ensures the safety of all of our acts.  We will also endeavour to make sure the performance area is adherent to social distance guidelines, ensuring the front row aren't compromised and everyone feels safe.

Face coverings are optional (dependant on the venues policy) but if you feel safer wearing one, then please do.  No act we book will say anything untoward or use it as an opportunity for crowd work.  For an audience to laugh, they must first feel safe and that is why making you feel as comfortable and safe as possible is paramount to us.

Can I film/photograph the event?
Absolutely not.  Comedians work really hard on their material, and sometimes spend months, even years, perfecting a joke.   A lot of comedy is the element of surprise and if material is plastered all over the internet, that element disappears.  We do work with a professional photographer and so pictures from each even will be available to view on our Facebook and Instagram.

ANYONE FOUND TO BE FILMING/PHOTOGRAPHING ANY COMEDY NOVA EVENT WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION WILL BE EJECTED FROM THE SHOW AND RECEIVE A LIFETIME BAN FROM ANY FUTURE COMEDY NOVA SHOWS

Will you provide posters for our event?
Whilst we are primarily a booker, not a promoter, we will provide marketing materials ready for both print and digital distribution.  If you have any additional design needs, we can help but there may be an additional fee.  Get in touch to find out more.

I'm an act, how do I go about applying to perform for Comedy Nova?
We love hearing from acts at all levels.  If you'd like to perform for Comedy Nova then fire us an email to info@comedynova.co.uk with as much detail as possible.  Please include a recent 5+ minute video so we can ascertain which venues are the best fit for you.

I want to handpick the acts, is that possible?
The short answer is no.  We have an unparalleled understanding of the comedy industry and whilst we will always work together with the venue to bring the right comedians to them, we cannot guarantee any act.
